11.2 Q- What methods of assessment determine appropriate use of student technology.

A- To measure a student's ability to operate a computer or use a software tool, teachers oftenuse checklists based on national, state and local standards of what students should be able to do with computers efficiently by noting abilities and deficiencies. These assessments may be handled in an informal oberservational manner or in more deliberate performance tasks. Classroom teachers are closest to the learning context and understand best the abilities of students, meaning they are in the best position to report a true picture of classroom technology use.

The Countdown Is On!

We are going back Disney World for Thanksgiving;~) I have been to Universal Studios twice this year, but there is still nothing like Disney! We will be celebrating Bragg's 11th birthday. I can't believe he is turning 11. We have taken him to Disney for his birthday/Thanksgiving since he was 4, it is a wonderful family tradition.

Michaelmas Day Lesson
Michaelmas day is celebrated on September 29th. It is named after the Archangel Michael. It is the official start of fall. It marked the end of fishing season and start of hunting season. It marked the end of harvest season and a local fair was held to partake in the food from the harvest. It also marked the beginning of school for children. A purple daisy, called an aster daisy is the flower for this day. Eating goose on this day is a tradition. Also, eating blackberries is a tradition because after this day there were said to be no good.

Activity
I will use a projector to show and read the book Michaelmas Day to the class. We will then discuss the story. The students will then be paired into groups of 4 to complete a story map about the story.

Concept Mapping

I have really enjoyed learning how to create concept maps. I feel it will be a great tool, not only in my classroom someday, but in my school assignments now. I have found, while preparing assigned lesson plans, that knowing how to create and utilize concept maps has been great!

Weekend here we come! I am so happy to be finished with all my homework for the week and am looking forward to a long weekend in Orlando. It will be a well needed break;~)

First day in class! Everything has been good so far. I am blogging for the first time ever. I think that I am going to like this class.
